The identity of a team is important. It sets the tone for decision-making and culture-shaping. The diversity of a team helps the team overcome the different liabilities of each individual personality. Neither should ever be the number one priority. Teams should not exist solely to have a certain identity. Teams should not exist simply to be diverse. Teams should exist for a common purpose and cause. If ever the identity or diversity stand in the way of the effectiveness of the team, then they should be seriously reconsidered.
