If discipline is a sign of humility then it stands to reason that the opposite of discipline would also be a sign of the opposite of humility. Pride can cause us to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. That hubris may place the cause of success in identity rather than practices. It’s this kind of hubris that can cause a lapse in disciplined behavior. Pride does tend to precede a fall but the good news is that a fall is humbling and the value of a disciplined life becomes important again.
