Remorse

Acknowledging a mistake is a good start to taking responsibility but when that acknowledgment lacks an apology, it doesn’t communicate to the team that the action is being taken seriously. Apologies are important because they communicate remorse. Everyone wants to believe that others want to avoid mistakes but when we show no remorse for the consequences, we demonstrate a prideful lack of empathy. If I can’t understand the importance of communicating the remorse I have for the impact of my actions on others, then I will never be trusted as a teammate.
