Personality versus Standards

We all have personality traits that are a result of our inherent biological nature, cultural influence, and upbringing. Personality tests are a tool many use to better understand their personalities, strengths, and liabilities. This can be important information to help the team understand why each individual thinks the way that they do. Too often, the personality information is used to excuse a personality liability. Personality tests should inform us about what needs to be overcome within us to meet the standards required to be a great teammate. To expect everyone to accommodate the dark side of our personality once we learn about it is a selfish entitlement that isn’t a great fit for any team.
