Time Debts

Most people in our culture live day by day. They are busy reacting to what just happened. It’s as if they spend the present moment in debt to what they didn’t anticipate yesterday. They don’t even anticipate the most predictable events in their life and end up buying Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. Today doesn’t have to be dictated by yesterday’s outcome. When a team can plan and prepare for different contingencies, they get to dictate the activity of their present in service of a preferred future. Planning and preparation liberates us in the space time continuum because it allows us to invest in the future while we avoid paying for mistakes.
