Perpetual Mediocrity

Wanting to jump back on to the field sounds noble but it’s actually quite foolish. It looks like a desire for excellence when actually it’s the practice of perpetual mediocrity. Mediocre teams can’t get out of their own way. They have a way of thinking that undermines their desire. They do what they feel is right without applying what they know. When we live by what we know, we can rationalize a better outcome. When we live by our emotions, we never play the long game because we allow our feelings to change our minds based on our circumstances, fears, and insecurities. This rollercoaster effect never provides the consistency required to meet long term objectives. Lots of teams make goals, but few have the temperament to reach them.
