Leaders are teammates too and sometimes their position makes them forget that. Leaders that want to build trust must initiate that trust by being the best teammate they can be. This means delegating through empowerment, and not just to give away nonpreferred tasks. Believe me the rest of the team knows the difference. This means stepping into a role when it helps everyone out and not just because the leader doesn’t trust others to do it correctly. The level of teamwork is reflective of the leadership’s ability to cultivate trust in the team.
