Compromising Potential

Many people feel the need to control because they want to protect the quality of the outcomes of the team. Unfortunately this is a myopic view that misses that the benefit of the team is the collaborative effort that requires a diversity in perspective and method to achieve the high potential. When a controlling leader forces conformity of perspective and method, they compromise the potential of the team and settle at the level of what the leader can imagine. Regardless of the leaders high view of themselves, that is always less than trusting the team to make their areas of responsibilities their own.
