Misplaced Obsession

Controlling leaders can feel as though they care more than others and can become obsessed with the desired outcomes. The problem is that the obsession is misplaced and communicates a disconnect from the team. It’s not the team that has departed from the team’s purpose. It’s often the controlling leader that has missed the mark because of an obsession with their way rather than the outcomes that benefit the entire team. The team doesn’t exist to serve the leader. The leader exists to serve the team. Controlling leaders miss that point.
