Great teammates are able to set aside their preferences to fully support a direction that they do not agree with. Ordinary teammates have a difficult time supporting a view that they don’t agree with. They may verbally say that they can move forward, but they often passively continue their dissent as they do not enthusiastically work hard to make the decision a successful one. This becomes clear when the second guessing begins. Choosing to belong is something that allows teammates to give 100% towards ideas that didn’t originate with them. Choosing to belong through enthusiastic support helps ideas remain fresh and diverse with an equal chance to succeed.
