Show them where they fit.

Great teams don’t always wait for people to apply for open positions. The best people are not usually unemployed. Great teams need to go after great people. They need to recruit them in a way that shows how valuable they would be to the team. They sit down face to face with a prospective recruit and encourage them by showing them where they fit on the team and its vision. They make sure the person feels like they can immediately make a difference on the team. Getting someone to leave a comfortable position is difficult if all we do is email or call them. Great teams not only pitch the vision to prospective recruits, but they also show them where they fit into that vision.
