Onboard

People will commit to the team. Sometimes we forget that when we consider making one. People join because someone took the time to communicate their potential and share the vision. People must be inspired to choose to belong to a team and its cause. Onboarding must include an orientation period where people gain a deeper understanding of what they bought into. Too often, in the rush to get started, we hand the new recruit the keys and tell them to go. Joining the team needs to be the beginning of a journey not the end of a recruitment exercise.
