Encouragement isn’t a pat on the back. It’s a human wall that doesn’t allow a teammate to cut and run. Encouragement is standing firm with someone. It’s the spouse that supports you in your diet by joining you and not letting you eat the cookie. It’s the team that cheers you when you are under the heaviest weight you have ever attempted to lift in your life. It’s the geese that honk at the fatigued goose leading their formation. There is something about the cheer of the crowd that makes us run faster than we ever thought we could at just the right moment.
