How we feel is directly linked to how we think. A big part of a teammate’s development is their ability to have the correct attitude. It doesn’t matter if someone is talented or skilled if they cannot apply that talent and skill in an appropriate way in concert with the rest of the team. Teams have a responsibility to help teammates cultivate the correct attitudes toward the work that everyone is sharing. Attitudes develop over time. Sometimes they are learned and sometimes they are the result of hurt. Regardless, attitudes are chosen and teams must hold each other accountable for developing the correct attitude expected by the team. Great teams never abide bad attitudes.
