Our brain likes to fill in the blanks. Because of that, it does a poor job of changing its mind. Once we decide on a course of action, it’s much easier to gather just enough data to make our point than it is to truly seek the truth or best solution. It takes discipline to adjust our opinion based on new information. This is important to understand in a team setting. Will we allow our teammates to influence our opinions? Or will we seek just enough data to make our point airtight? Great teammates seek information so that the best solution or course of action can be chosen. They care less about being right.
