“If…then…”

Accountability is difficult in today’s culture. We are not supposed to judge people, except when we are. In the “everyone gets a trophy” culture there is an expectation that accountability will not apply to them. In the old days the best eleven players on a football team played because that put the team in the best position to succeed. It was the player’s responsibility to improve if they wanted to crack the starting line up. It was an “if…then” proposition. If you were skilled enough then you were trusted with a responsibility. That’s how accountability works. It’s not meant to ruin someone’s self-esteem. It’s meant to inform someone of their current ability level so that they could work to improve their weaknesses and amplify their strengths.
