“What if…”

There is a time and place for the “what if…” question. Counting the cost is wise so that the path forward doesn’t have any surprises. However, when the “what if…” question begins to be the decision maker, then there really isn’t a path forward that will be worth the risk of leaving the safety of the status quo. The best antidote for paralysis by analysis is to flip the “what if…” on itself and ask, “What if we don’t?” Over time, doing nothing out of fear almost always has just as serious consequences as the risk without the chance for reward. Go ahead and count the cost, but don’t always be afraid to pay the bill.
