Permission to Refer

When an important responsibility is delegated to me, I feel empowered when I have permission to refer the decision to someone else if I am out of my depth. When we delegate, we share authority. Leaders should never abdicate their responsibility by passing it off on another teammate. Ultimately, the delegator is still responsible for the decision made by another. If that is truly the case, it is important to communicate that although you are delegating a decision, you will still help if necessary in difficult situations.
