No one is sad when they expect something to be complicated and they find a simple solution. The rub comes when we oversimplify something in our minds and our imagination didn’t even come close to the complexity of reality. It can be embarrassing because my lack of experience just got exposed. The experts that I discounted just got proved right and I look like I don’t know what I am talking about. The best thing for the team at this point is to admit my error and adjust my expectations based on the new information. Demanding a simple solution to a complex problem loses credibility with the team. I do my best to make it a habit to defer to the experts because they understand the simplicity and the complexity of their expertise.
