I admire great teams. Like them or not, the New England Patriots are a great team. They have won more Superbowls in the last two decades than any other team. What makes them stand out? Consistency, flexibility, and a passionate team-first mindset are the qualities that draw my attention to great teams. It’s a simple formula but too few teams seem to be able to pull it off. Human nature provides too many liabilities that undermine a team to allow more teams to truly work together. As rare as it is, there is nothing more satisfying than being on a team that comes together to do something great. It feels right. It’s as if we were never meant to work alone. So why do we self-sabotage with ego, stubbornness, and myopia?
