Strong Leadership

Strong leadership is becoming countercultural in our country. Dissent is seen as division rather than as an opportunity to find the best path. Arguments are seen as something to win rather than as an opportunity for healthy debate and collaborative efforts in the decision-making process. When a leader demonstrates strong leadership, it can cut across the expectation of culture to pander to the lowest common denominator- to slow things down and to please the most amount of people. Strong leadership relies on a team to weigh the options, to make the decision that is best, and then to actually move forward. Strong leadership sees the big picture with a clinical mind and understands both the sentiments and the ramifications of decisions. The great teams of today are bubbles of appreciation for strong leadership. They are immune to the expectations of the culture of weak leadership.
