Every team will be presented with new ideas and old ways that limit the team’s effectiveness. The solution is strong leadership that is disciplined enough to embrace change and say no to new and exciting but irrelevant ideas. Momentum requires a precision of force. The forks in the road will come and the team will look to the leader to see if he will be worn down by those who resist change or if he will be pressured to change for the sake of change. A disciplined leader keeps the team focused on the outcome that everyone agreed to work toward at some point. All efforts must be coordinated to make sure that preferences for old or new never corrupts a team’s purpose.
